Honoring our innate connection with nature will unlock greater environmental integrity while putting the Rights of Nature at the forefront.

To achieve real sustainability means explicitly emphasizing the role nature plays in our lives and existence, raising the ecological consciousness by advocating on behalf of nature itself as the holder of wisdom.

The Biophilia Hypothesis states that as humans, our inclination is to affiliate with life and nature, and that this links to our overall well-being and personal fulfilment. One of the building blocks of the theory states that we inherently want to preserve the natural world (thus raising the question, why are the Rights of Nature not prioritized) What’s more, if children are exposed to nature, it will fuel their inherent “knowing” of our innate connection to nature and the importance of protecting biodiversity. So, what does it really mean to nurture and protect our innate connection with nature?

WHO WE WORK WITH

Schools and Universities:

We support schools and universities that want to become innovators in the sustainability education space and help them develop more integrated approaches to sustainability and ecological awareness across their institutions.

Grounded in Motion works alongside your sustainability coordinator (or other school liaison or faculty) to take your sustainability leadership to the next level through curriculum design, immersive experiences, installations and systems thinking that leads to a larger impact on your student population, as well as clarifying your unique mission, vision and purpose in the greater tapestry of sustainability education. We can also come in to teach courses, deepen current curriculum or coordinate a guest speaker program of leaders in the field to inspire and connect your students to new areas of growth and opportunity in the sustainability landscape.

Cultural Centers:

We support cultural centers to create immersive experiences, deep ecology installations and inspiring exhibits that truly support their visitors in connecting with environmental issues at a somatic, emotional and cognitive level.

We design experiences that don’t just share the issues of climate change and biodiversity loss, but lead people to feel and process their connection to (and perhaps current separation from) the Earth, sharing their experiences in post-exhibit discussions and other embodied integration formats that allow them to re-embed themselves with nature and walk away from the experience with new ecological depth, care and awareness. Experiences like these lead to behavior change and greater advocacy around Nature Rights they can incorporate into their work and lives at the personal, local and global level. Grounded in Motion can design these immersive experiences for you, consult on a current planned exhibition to deepen its impact, or come to live-facilitate discussion, reflection & integration of the material for your audiences.

Research Institutes:

Grounded in Motion supports research institutes investigating the role nature plays in cognitive development, well-being and health for kids and adults alike.

From consulting on experiment design to research the effects of nature on the mind, to designing installations, symposiums and events that distribute research that has already been done in a meaningful way, we help research institutes translate their findings into something that is digestible, understandable and meaningful for the audiences they wish to reach. We particularly love working with wellbeing and cognitive health efforts that center nature as a guide and wisdom holder.

Advocacy and Nature Rights Initiatives

We support individuals and activist organizations promoting the rights of nature and pushing legislative initiatives to transform nature rights ideals into law and actual practice.

Effective policy change, government initiatives and activism require a deep commitment to nurturing a renewed consciousness for land and water, their inhabitants, and the protection of wildlife corridors. Grounded in Motion helps advocacy and nature rights initiatives stand on the science, while moving hearts and minds to bring nature rights into the local, national and global conversation.
